Eco Permaculture Features include: solar panels, adobe construction, composting toilets, recycling, roof water collectors, gray water systems, organic gardens, community education & aid work, reforestation, erosion control and more.

Because of the Black Sheep Inn’s unique location, you can enjoy several days of walking right from the Inn .  Walks range from half hour to full day and incorporate several micro-climates. 

Enjoy the comfortable chalet-like lodge, relax around self-designed woodstove fireplaces, play scrabble and sip Ecuadorian Rum or hot chocolate, pamper yourself with hot showers, delight in gourmet vegetarian meals, and after a long hike leave your tensions behind in the sauna. At the Black Sheep Inn you will sleep soundly in silence far from the hum of any highways.  The charm of the Black Sheep Inn is in its size. We cater to individual travelers, not to tour groups.

accommodation: the Inn is intimate, with nine private rooms, each with two double beds (some rooms have more beds) and one bunkhouse. Capacity is approximately 30 guests.  Most of our rooms have woodstove fireplaces and private bathrooms. You'll notice personal touches all over the place. Towels, linen, hiking maps, dinner and breakfast, tea and coffee, purified water, tax are all included.  Added features are a solar powered waterslide, Frisbee golf course,  zipline cable swing, and friendly farm animals.  Pets are allowed, but please ask in advance.

We also have built new facilities such as the Yoga Studio, a massage room, wood fired sauna, and a hot soaking tub that heats from the sauna.

All toilets at the Black Sheep Inn are composting dry toilets with a view!  The property has been designed using Permaculture and features roof water collectors, recycling, energy efficiency, natural renewable materials, multifunction and interconnections between features.

Black Sheep Inn has developed a sustainable tourist destination in the remote Ecuadorian Andes.  In addition to creating a new economic resource in the community, other benefits include Public Library/Computer Learning-Centre, recycling-centre, improvements to the village water system, aid to local health clinic, English and computer training, and infrastructural aid to several schools. 

Perched on a hillside at 10,500 feet, the rural ecolodge overlooks the Rio Toachi canyon.   It is a day hiker’s paradise with several microclimates within a 5 km radius. Most activities can be done right from the inn without any transportation.

location: attractions include: Laguna Quilotoa – 12,500 foot active volcanic crater lake, Rio Toachi Canyon, Iliniza Ecological Reserve – 149,000 hectares of Andean Humid Cloud Forest, Indigenous Markets – Zumbahua, Saquisilí, Pujilí, Chugchilán, Guantualo, etc., Cooperatively run Swiss-style cheese factory, and a fine woodworking furniture shop.

Black Sheep Inn is 5 hours from Quito , the capitol city of Ecuador , and the international airport.  The Inn can be reached by both public and private transportation.
