property
description:
Galini is situated amongst olive groves on the south-west coast of
the Peleponese near Koroni. It is a very unspoilt region and we occupy a peaceful, rural
hillside overlooking the sea, which is incredibly clear. We are as
self-sufficient as possible, using the sun and wind to generate
electricity; we have our own fresh water; organically grow our own
vegetables and tend over 70 olive trees to produce our own olive oil. Galini is home to us, Robin and Zara, and two of our children, Omar and Raphael. We took over Galini in September 2005. Keep watching our website as we develop our programme of workshops for next year and update our photos ! We offer you a friendly relaxed atmosphere and personal attention. We look forward to meeting you and sharing knowledge and experiences. Some of our passions are; bodywork, nutrition, painting,self-sufficiency, music, dance, organic growing, cycling, walking and cookery. Zara will be offering individual sessions of healing and nutrition advice which you are welcome to book when you are with us. We like to start our mornings with a session of Qi gong and you are welcome to join in with this- it's a great way to wake-up the body and open to a new day. Some days we will end with a meditation or a dance.
We
will be accomodatng up to 10 people at the moment in yurts of various
sizes, amongst the olive trees, on raised platforms with wooden floors and
doors. They are simply but
comfortably furnished and are double, twin or single. For those with
children we have a big family yurt. They
all have mosquito nets. There are loos and showers near the yurts. Our
workshop area is a circular shaded space outside giving panoramic views,
down to the sea looking across to the Taiyetos mountains or looking inland
over the hills where beautiful sunsets colour the sky in the evenings. If
the occasion arises that the single yurts are full and sharing is not ok
for you a supplement would be required. All food is vegetarian and as much as possible is our own home-grown, organic produce. Meals will be relaxed affairs, eaten together and al fresco whenever possible. On Workshop weeks all meals are included except lunch and dinner on the free day. Non-workshop weeks are B&B or half board. Meals commence with dinner on the Sunday of arrival and end with breakfast on the Sunday of departure. We will accommodate whenever possible special dietary requirements (Zara has a lot of experience in this area) - please advise us when booking.
Programme details: We open at the end of March with our walking and wild flower week and offer a mixture of workshop and non-workshop weeks throughout Spring and Summer until the end of October. We are getting together our 2006 programme at the moment so please view our website for details later. We are hoping to offer yoga, painting, walking and meditation. You
are free to do as much or as little as you want … there is quiet space
to write or paint … take local walks through the olive farms and hills
… Memi beach is only 25 minutes walk away, with watersports and tavernas
during the height of the season. The sandy coastline stretches for 2km to
meet the old fortress at Koroni. The small traditional old town is a
peninsular with a harbour lined with tavernas, and winding streets with
small shops and houses bedecked with vibrant bougainvillea, jasmine,
wysteria and smelling of orange blossom in April. There are also banks,
post office and bike/car hire. Venture further a field and you can visit
some of the historic sites of the region (Olympia, Sparta, ancient Messini,
the Byzantine town of Mistras) … or just lay in a hammock sipping
chilled wine! How to get to
