programmes and
activities:
Both Udayana and Bajo Komodo eco Lodges are mandated to protect birds in their management systems. Both lodges have bird lists of birds sighted in the gardens or environs displayed in the room files. Some birds of the Bajo Komodo Lodge have been painted and these can be viewed in the library of the Lodge. Thus Udayana eco Lodge has around 50 recorded species (in a 35 ha protected area) and the Bajo Komodo eco Lodge around 70. Some of the latter's list has been taken from the bird list of The Komodo National Park. We also promote bird watching and have binoculars for those who may not bring their own. Good bird watching is available from both lodges by sitting in the lounge or dining rooms. The following short birding excursions are also available:
Longer birding trips can be organized according to need for example to West Bali National Park or to the forest around Ruteng in Flores, perfect for bird watching.
All of our Lodges protect butterflies in their management systems. Udayana eco Lodge displays lists in the room files of the common species of butterflies (around 60) found in the gardens. Anyone interested in butterflies can meet with our resident butterfly person who can explain some of their life cycles.

Lodge
has achieved the
prestigious Green Globe Certified status under the worldwide Green Globe
Certification Program, which recognises the operation’s commitment to

To further demonstrate its commitment to environmentally sustainable tourism, Udayana

By successfully completing the onsite assessment, Udayana Lodge has
demonstrated that they are strongly committed to the Green Globe Company Standard.
