Our house has been designed with sustainable features in mind and reflects our philosophy of sustainable living.
To minimize the impact on our environment we have harnessed energy efficient sources and have used solar panels and an eco-friendly cooling insulation system. We also have a fresh rainwater tank for cooking and drinking water. We have used recycled building materials and organic finishes and products. The timber that features in our house is Camphor - Laurel. We also use biodegradable, chemical free cleaning products.

Organic vegetables straight from the garden to the table.
John is not only passionate about sailing, but also about sustainable agriculture. John maintains the organic vegetable garden supplying some of the ingredients for Sharini's breakfasts and dinners. In the B&B's organic garden you find a variety of native trees and exotic fruit species.
The vegetable garden has the best seasonal offerings. Using organic gardening principles, all plants are grown without chemical fertilizes or pesticides.
Delicious freshly prepared breakfasts
Breakfast is served on the Balcony. The panoramic views will have you mesmerised by the natural beauty of the region.
The Whitsunday Organic B&B prides itself on using wholesome organic ingredients. This means fresh tropical organic fruits for the fruit platters, biodynamic yoghurt direct from the farm, organic juices, organic breads and fruit loaves. The menu varies each morning to give variety to guests staying for more than a few days. This means organic pancakes one morning, organic fruit muffins straight from the oven the next... A hot breakfast is offered each morning with organic eggs, oven roasted tomatoes and whatever is seasonal. Organic teas and coffees are complimentary all day long.
The cereals do not come from a box. Whitsunday Organic B&B's own Organic Granola is freshly prepared and oven roasted.
A culinary experience
Our organic B&B offers a number of organic packages with dinners included. Having chosen a package, guests are treated to a chilled bottle of organic wine with organic chocolates/fruit platter on arrival.
Sharini specialises in Sri Lankan cuisine and seafood for the B&B dinners. The spices are blended from scratch and the fresh curry leaves and pandan leaves which give Sri Lankan curries their authentic flavour are grown in the B&B's own organic garden as are other garden vegetables, salad greens and herbs. If curries are not your favourite, organic chicken dishes and vegetarian meals are also freshly prepared on the day.
Dinner is a special occasion at the B&B as it is individually prepared for the few in-house guests. The dining table is made from a huge single slab of hand-crafted camphor-laurel. Guests may enjoy the company of other travellers around this shared table or else dine alone privately on the balcony.

Our Organic Bed & Breakfast overlooks Airlie Beach – the gateway to the Whitsunday Islands and the Great Barrier Reef. It is only 250m to the village with its choice of cafes, restaurants and shops and the Airlie Beach Lagoon, yet our house is quietly positioned in a natural setting of organic fruit and nut trees and tropical plants.
The Whitsunday region is home to the Aboriginal inhabitants – the Ngaro and Gia people. The Ngaro homelands encompass the Whitsunday Island chain and take in the part of the mainland including Airlie Beach. The Ngaro and Gia people were saltwater people and expert seafarers and feasted on shellfish, turtle, dugong, fish and native bushfoods which were all found in great abundance in the reefs, waters, mangroves, and rainforests of The
Whitsundays.
The Whitsundays is located in central Queensland, approximately 1100km north of Brisbane and 600km south of Cairns.
By Air - The Whitsunday Coast Airport at Proserpine and Great Barrier Reef Airport on Hamilton Island are your main options. Virgin Blue and Jetstar offer direct
flights from Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne.
A Shuttle service/taxi from Whitsunday Coast Airport will bring you straight to our Organic B&B. If you fly into Hamilton Island, you can catch a regular ferry service to Shute Harbour on the mainland. It is then a 10 min bus or taxi ride to Airlie Beach.
You can also fly to Mackay which is 150km from Airlie Beach. There is a connecting shuttle service to Airlie Beach (approximately 2 hours). One way car hire is also available at the Airport.
